The fifth season at REDCAT is a celebration of artistic risk. The artists working in our gallery and theater are confronting vital issues, inventing new forms, challenging traditions and inspiring audiences. They are influential thinkers from around the world—as well as emerging artists who are sure to have great future impact.

We can encourage artists to take risks because you—our audience—have proven you like the challenge of confronting a new idea and a complex thought. Many of you do more than just experience our events and exhibitions, choosing to also join a debate over the evolution of contemporary culture, both in formal discussions and over drinks in our lively lounge. Some of you have also contributed financially to make this adventure possible. On behalf of REDCAT and CalArts: thank you.

It is gratifying that REDCAT has become an important part of our city’s cultural life since we opened less than four years ago. If you haven’t visited us yet—please come to an event soon (and often). We look forward to welcoming you.
