SFMOMA's Clara Kim announced as assistant curator
of the Gallery at REDCAT
Valencia, August 27 -- Clara Kim, formerly curatorial associate at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art's (SFMOMA's) Department of Painting and Sculpture, has been appointed assistant curator of the Gallery at REDCAT. A native of Los Angeles, Ms. Kim will work closely with gallery director Eungie Joo in developing exhibitions and public programs for the upcoming season.
"I look forward to working with Clara," said Ms. Joo. "Her experience at noteworthy art institutions will aid us in identifying cutting-edge work to present at the Gallery at REDCAT."
Kim holds a B.A. from University of California at Berkeley and an M.A. from the University of Chicago. Among the many projects she worked on at SFMOMA were YES Yoko Ono, the 2002 SECA Art Award Exhibition, and, most recently, a project with Mexico-based artist Carlos Amorales. Prior to her position at SFMOMA, Kim worked in curatorial departments at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, The Renaissance Society, Chicago, and the San Francisco Art Institute. Her exhibition, Lee Bul: Live Forever organized at the San Francisco Art Institute in cooperation with the Fabric Workshop in Philadelphia, traveled throughout the United States including the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York and the Power Plant, Toronto. The exhibition will open at the Henry Art Gallery, Seattle in October 2003.
