CalArts Community Arts Partnership and Plaza de la Raza present Entries,
written by Bernardo Solano, at REDCAT

May 21 & 22, 7:30 p.m.

Los Angeles, May 14 -- The CalArts Community Arts Partnership (CAP) presents Entries at REDCAT on May 21 & 22 at 7:30 p.m. Set in a virgin rain forest in the Colombian Amazon, Entries, the play by noted Los Angeles playwright Bernardo Solano, tells the story of a protagonist named Jorge who returns to his native land to bury the ashes of his father. Once there, his simple task turns into a journey of self-discovery in which Jorge is aided by physical manifestations of the spirits and creatures of the forest. The play is directed by B.J. Dodge and choreographed by Marvin Tunney, both CalArts faculty members, and performed by students in the CAP/Plaza de la Raza Youth Theater Program.

Roy and Edna Disney / CalArts Theater (REDCAT) is located in the Walt Disney Concert Hall complex, 631 W. Second St. in downtown Los Angeles. This performance is FREE and open to the public. The CalArts Community Arts Partnership (CAP), in its 14th year, offers in-depth arts training programs free-of-charge for middle school and high school students in jazz, printmaking, photography, video, drawing, graphic design, dance, digital arts, theatre, puppetry, chamber music, world music, animation, and writing in 40 neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County.

CAP is a partnership between CalArts, Plaza de la Raza, Watts Towers Arts Center, Armory Center for the Arts, Los Angeles Center for Photographic Studies, Banning's Landing Community Center, Center for the Arts Eagle Rock, San Fernando Gardens Community Service Center, Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra, Side Street Projects, My Friend's Place, Visual Communications, Santa Clarita Valley Boys and Girls Club, Self-Help Graphics, KAOS Network, William Reagh Los Angeles Photography Center and Inner-City Arts.

This CAP @ REDCAT program is funded by the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, the Capital Group, the James Irvine Foundation, the JL Foundation, the Entertainment Industry Foundation, and the Talented Students in the Arts Initiative, a collaboration of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the Surdna Foundation.
