September 2004 Studio

Terence McFarland from NOW 2005

The Studio Series and the NOW Festival allow local artists to develop high-risk pieces in a low-risk, supportive setting--one that comes with a well-equipped space, a professional technical team and audiences primed for daring work.

Studio was created to give new artists an opportunity to hone their skills and offer established artists a chance to test new material and works-in-progress before an audience. A revolving panel of working artists curates each edition, selecting artist through a live audition process.

The New Original Works Festival is a three-week interdisciplinary program of a variety of short works and some longer projects in their Los Angeles premieres. The Festival takes place in July and August and artists are given development support through rehearsal space, technical assistance, access to equipment and an honorarium. Los Angeles-based projects are selected through a proposal process by a panel of arts professionals, with an emphasis on new projects in development and/or early career artists.

Artists interested in participating should note the deadlines below, and read over the application guidelines that can be downloaded from this page.
