TERRY ALLEN AND JO HARVEY ALLEN:
DUGOUT III: WARBOY (AND THE BACKBOARD BLUES)

West Coast premiere

"Terry Allen is a musician defined by his sense of daring... He very often takes a hard look at what we worship in Western culture and what that says about us." Austin American Statesman

Artist, musician and writer Terry Allen stages a sweeping multimedia theater work that is both a love story--between a minor league baseball player and a barrelhouse piano player--and an investigation of how memories are invented. Allen calls it "a kind of supernatural-jazz-sport-history-ghost-blood fiction." Acclaimed performer Jo Harvey Allen stars, with original music by Terry Allen, Richard Bowden and Lloyd Maines. This new piece is the third installment of the epic Dugout series, a semiautobiographical, transgenerational story that began as a radio drama in 1994.

Funded in part by Elyse and Stanley Grinstein, L.A. Louver Gallery, Inc., and Vicki Reynolds Pepper and Murray Pepper.
