New Century Players:
International Innovations

World premiere

"The New Century Players perform with wonted skill and poise; one hears the music and doesn’t worry about the very real difficulties of executing it." Los Angeles Times

A concert of rare acuity from the resident new music ensemble of the CalArts School of Music. The program features the world premiere of Hiroko Ito’s Kamen-Bina, an exquisite double flute concerto in which virtuosos Reiko Manabe and Rachel Rudich expound on traditional Japanese and extended instrumental techniques. The New Century Players also delve into the extraordinary work of Diego Minciacchi, composer and University of Florence neurologist who creates music by transposing scientific data via original instruments.

Supported in part by The Japan Foundation, through the Performing Arts JAPAN program, and The E. Nakamichi Foundation.
