BERLIN/LA
THE CALIFORNIA EAR UNIT PLAYS MUSIC FROM VILLA AURORA

The continuing creative exchange between Villa Aurora artists and their Los Angeles colleagues is sounded in this unprecedented collaboration between Villa Aurora composers-in-residence and visitors from Berlin, and the renowned local chamber ensemble, the California EAR Unit. The EAR Unit will play works exposing the explosive fertility of the current Berlin cultural milieu, refracted through sensitive, virtuosic LA interpretation. The program includes Fehlstart (Detail) by Sebastian Claren; Pruh, by Sabina Ercklentz; Litany for J.C., by Hans W. Koch; Pergament, by Carsten Hennig; before/QUAKE, by Ulrich Kreiger; and Flow, by Charlotte Seither. This concert is the first in a series of events organized by the Villa Aurora in celebration of the 40-year anniversary of the Sister Cities: Los Angeles and Berlin.

This program was made possible, in part, by a grant from the Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles, and the Richard Schuller Fund.
