Mallet percussionist David Johnson and Persian percussionist Houman Pourmehdi team up with tar player Pirayeh Pourafar, bassist Ivan Johnson and percussionist T.J. Troy for an evening of invigorating global fusion. Linking the depth and rigor of Persian and Western classical traditions with the inventiveness of contemporary jazz and improvisation, the program features works for marimba, vibraphone, bass, and Persian strings and percussion.
