Pandit Rajeev Taranath, one of the world’s great exponents of the sarode, is joined by tabla virtuoso Nitin Mitta for a scintillating program of classical Hindustani ragas. A disciple of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Pandit Taranath has been hailed for seamlessly combining the depth and rigor of Hindustani musical tradition with sparkling imagination and searing emotional intensity. This special concert marks the sarode master’s retirement from the faculty of CalArts’ renowned World Music Performance Program.
