REDCAT's second season is organized into several programs and series. The corresponding icons can guide you as you browse the calendar listings.
The NEW DIRECTIONS IN PERFORMANCE SERIES presents interdisciplinary performance works by visiting artists and companies that often incorporate new media technologies.
GALLERY AT REDCAT--As a continuation of CalArts' commitment to experimen-tation and innovation in the arts, the gallery at REDCAT aims to provide an active intellectual space for the CalArts community and beyond.
CENTER FOR NEW THEATER at CalArts is a forum for the creation of groundbreaking theatrical performance.
The MUSICAL EXPLORATIONS SERIES is an expanded, yearlong version of the annual festival presented by CalArts School of Music.
THE SHARON DISNEY LUND DANCE SERIES presents a wide variety of performances, workshops and newly commissioned projects. The program features both local and national guest artists, as well as presentations by students and faculty of CalArts' newly named Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance.
The FILM AND VIDEO SERIES draws on a variety of cultural perspectives from around the globe to expand definitions of the moving images in film, video and new media. It includes the JACK SKIRBALL SCREENING SERIES, an ongoing program of Monday night screenings named for producer Jack Skirball.

CONVERSATIONS programs, including the new Reading Series, The President's Ideas and Dialogues Series, and a variety of gallery talks.
The COMMUNITY ARTS PARTNERSHIP (CAP) program presents work by talented young artists taking part in CalArts' youth arts education programs, which include fine art, animation, digital arts, graphic design, printmaking, photography, modern and world dance, chamber music, jazz, world music, theater, puppetry, video, creative writing and public art.

LOCAL LABORATORY programs, including STUDIO, a series of short works and works-in-progress curated by Los Angeles-area artists, and the three-week NOW FESTIVAL of New Original Works.
ALPERT AWARDS IN THE ARTS SHOWCASE
REDCAT celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the Alpert Award in the Arts-annual fellowships administered by CalArts on behalf of The Herb Alpert Foundation-with a yearlong series dedicated to the work of Alpert Award winners. Launched during our inaugural season, the celebration continues into 2005, including the works of Vijay Iyer, Rennie Harris, Erik Ehn and filmmakers Ellen Bruno and Renee Tajima-Peņa.

FOCUS: LATIN AMERICA
REDCAT continues its commitment to featuring the work of artists from Mexico and Latin America, with a special emphasis on exchange with Mexico City artists, who are represented in dance, film, music and visual arts programs throughout the season.
