Al Jarnow
about the artist
For over 50 years, Al Jarnow has used animation in order to perceive ways the universe moves, through light, time, scale, and cycles. His film works are in the collection of MoMA and the Met, and he created over 100 pieces for PBS, including iconic works for “Sesame Street” and “3-2-1 Contact.” Through his company Protozone, he has created interactive software and educational exhibits for museums that include his ongoing interest in waves, shorelines, rocks, patterns, and geometry. Jarnow currently works with algorithmic software compositions and makes ephemeral “beachworks” using found materials on the beaches near his home on Long Island, New York.
