The Herb Alpert School of Music at CalArts in collaboration with REDCAT presents the CalArts Music Showcase, an evening of performances by graduate student creators. Exhibiting the school’s diverse approach to creativity, 48 performers will share innovative work exploring themes of longing, nostalgia, destruction, rebirth, queerness, politics of meaning, meditation, and experimentation through a variety of musical forms. Stylistically, the featured music will range from jazz to megaphone feedback noise, choral performance, experimental pop, Dominican Merengue styles, improvisation, electronic music with live visuals, and more.
The program features projects led by students Emma-Rose Bauman; Ivan Cunningham; Nelle Anderson; ++ (Matt LeVeque + Daniel Newman-Lessler); Nancy Zhu; Dasol Lim; GPT (Junson Park, Daniel Gonzalez, and Arlo Tomececk); Alice Sandahl; You, Me, + the Whales Sextet; and Sebastián Nassar.
Please note: CalArts Music Showcase contains loud sound and strong language.
